North Game World uses cookies on its website at northgameworld.com. This policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use, why we use them, and what choices you have. Finland is an EU member state, and this policy complies with the requirements of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC as amended by 2009/136/EC) as implemented in Finnish law, as well as with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679).

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies serve various purposes — some are essential for a website to function, others collect information for analytics or advertising. North Game World uses only the first category.

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, social media tracking cookies, or any other cookies that monitor your behavior across websites. Our cookie use is limited to what is strictly necessary for the platform to function correctly.

The cookies we use fall into one functional group. The cookie ngw_consent stores your response to our cookie consent notice so that the banner does not reappear on every page you visit. This cookie is set in localStorage (not as a traditional HTTP cookie) and contains only the value "accepted" or "declined". It does not identify you as an individual, does not contain any personal information, and is not transmitted to any server. Its duration is indefinite within your browser's localStorage — it persists until you clear your browser storage.

A second localStorage entry, ageVerified, records that you have confirmed you are 18 or over. This prevents the age verification prompt from appearing on every visit. Again, this is stored locally in your browser only, contains no personal information, and is not sent anywhere.

Game-related localStorage entries include per-game high score values (stored under keys such as memoryHighScore, blockPuzzleHighScore, and tileMatcherHighScore) and, if you create an optional guest profile, a nickname and virtual coin balance under the key ngwProfile. None of these are cookies in the traditional HTTP sense — they are localStorage entries — but we disclose them here in the interest of full transparency about all local data storage used by the platform.

Under Finnish law and the ePrivacy Directive, strictly necessary cookies and storage that are essential for a service explicitly requested by the user do not require consent. Nevertheless, we display a consent notice on first visit because we believe transparency is appropriate regardless of legal obligation.

You can manage or delete all locally stored data at any time through your browser's settings. In most browsers this is found under Settings, Privacy and Security, Clear Browsing Data, or equivalent. Clearing localStorage will remove your game scores, age verification, consent record, and guest profile if you have created one.

You can also decline our cookie consent notice. Declining will record your preference in localStorage (the same mechanism) so the notice does not reappear, and no additional storage will be created beyond what is strictly necessary for the platform to function. Game high scores and age verification will still use localStorage as these are necessary for the features you request when using the platform.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other third-party tracking technology. No data collected from your use of this platform is shared with any third party for advertising or profiling purposes.
